November… still in Boulder

I wasn’t sure that I would even come to Colorado at all back in September… ‘too cold to train for a warm weather Ironman’ and if I go it will only be till the end of October to make sure I ‘avoid the snow and all the bad weather’ … well that all worked out nicely then didnt it?!

Six weeks down the road and yes, I am still in Boulder, CO and awfully pleased to be so. I really do like it here very much. This has been my 3rd training stint here and I am certainly starting to feel at home with the place. It takes me a while! I know my way around town (not getting lost driving to the pool is a good thing) but most importantly I have an array of run and biking routes the length of my arm, and I’ve barely scratched the surface.

It’s been a whole month since I raced the Rev3 event in South Carolina, and I can say with some certainty that that time has flown by as I prepare for Ironman Arizona. Although I wasn’t over the moon with that performance four weeks ago I am feeling far more confident with my fitness and level of preparadness heading into the event next week in Tempe.

I’ve strung together a pretty consistent block of swim, bike and (most importantly for me) running, and I know with more than a hint of seriousness, that consistency is most deffinately the key to a good race, no matter what the distance. – But without question over an Ironman!

I’m looking forward to racing, and nervously I might add – fingers crossed – I think I am about ready to give an Ironman a good crack this time (for a change). Time will no doubt tell though!
