9th place team – 8:57:21 10km swim / 65km run / 26 Island crossings Having raced Ironman Hawaii I was fairly sure I had already reached the limit of what my own toughest racing experiences might ever be. I don’t think I could have been more wrong! OTILLO is without a shadow of doubt the […]
10th place – 4:26:09 Having never visited Norway, I decided to travel over the North Sea for this Challenge event largely for this reason alone – a tourist if you like. I had raced in Dublin a couple of weeks prior, and I knew I was travelling again the following weekend for another event. However, […]
4th place – 4:08:20 Last year I came to Dublin hoping to collect the last vital ‘points’ required to qualify for the Ironman World Championships on Hawaii. I was having a cracker of a race midway through the bike ride – leading and on my own. I even started to allow myself to get excited. […]
9th place (7th MPro) – 9:24:31 This is my ‘glad to be finished’ face after a long day of racing. This was my 5th time racing in Bolton since 2010 and given it was my first full distance event since Ironman Hawaii last October I was looking forward to being back and certainly ready to […]
2016 is a new year, and this weekend saw me start this new season wearing new racing colours. – I am now a part of the Pewag Racing Team, which is Austrian sponsored and based, but is composed of an international group of 9 professional athletes. I look forward to wearing the kit and promoting […]
38th place (391st overall) – 10:07:08 The infamous ‘Hawi Express’ pulls out of the station There had been a long time between drinks. It was 5 years since my last (and only) race on the Big Island – the biggest race of them all in non drafting triathlon; Ironman Kona. This goal of qualifying for […]
2nd place – 8:51:06 L-R: Myself, David McNamee and Joe Skipper With a quick glance you would be forgiven for reading this blog and believing I only write a race report when I’ve completed the Ironman distance and also managed to finish 2nd… however I have simply been rather tardy on the writing side of […]
2nd place – 9:10:16 Tenby is a wonderful little seaside town – and when the tide is out it certainly leaves behind an expansive beach! On the Friday before race day we had our Pro brifing and the tv crew also did some pre-race interviews out on the beach front. Looking at this picture I […]
On my 2nd attempt at finishing Ironman Wales I crossed the line in… 2nd place. – After more than 9hours of racing on a course best described as ‘brutal’ I think this shot best reminds me of the considerable amount of relief to have just gotten it done!
1st place – 4:16:22 This year Aberfeldy not only hosted the Scottish Middle Distance Championships but it also incorporated the British titles too, and by getting to the line first I managed a sneaky little double number and my first National Title across any distance I believe. – It wasn’t all plain sailing though!
3rd place – 4:22:07 The finish line back drop of Castle Howard in Yorkshire is one of the more stunning you will find for a triathlon event – great work yet again from the Castle Triathlon Series events team.
1st place – 9:56:54 The ‘Bastion’ Iron distance on Sunday was my longest day of triathlon to date and I hope that it remains that way for the forseeable future! Having raced the Half distance ‘Gauntlet’ last Septmber over much of the same course I felt confident I had a good idea of what lay ahead, but […]
From Briancon in the Alps with two train journeys under my belt and I was on the Cote d’Azur and the Promenade des Anglais in Nice. Ali had planned this event as her qualification race for hopefully getting back to Kona later this year and I was chief supporter for the trip. I’d rested hard on […]
After racing in Spain at the Zarautz Triathlon I was fortunate enough to be able to join in with Triathlon Performance Solutions summer training camp. Having been involved in their winter camp at Playatis back in February I was looking forward to meeting some new faces amongst some amazing cycling terrain around Briancon, in the French Alps.
2nd place – 4:04:58 This picture doesn’t do the gradient justice I am afraid! Zarautz is a fantastic race for many reasons and one of those is the punishing climbs that feautre towards the tail end of the bike ride. I will pack more gears for next year!
1st place – 55:05 Cameron Milne 2nd, myself 1st and Craig Dale 3rd It was a great morning for racing on Sunday in Aberdeenshire. I have never until now managed to race at Knockburn due to clashes with other racing commitments I’ve had over the years. I’m very glad I was able to make the start […]
2nd place – 4:10:08 It was a productive return visit to the Basque Country this past Saturday – a step further up the podium than 2012.
1st place – 1:49:16 Douglas Roberts, myself and Cameron Milne just after finishing the Scottish Championships at Stratchlyde Park on Sunday. Whilst we got to race over much of the upcoming Commonwealth Games course, the arrival of some sunshine certainly brought a smile to our faces. Nobody (whatever they may tell you) likes racing in […]
In mid May Ali was racing the Mallorca 70.3 and after my race in Elche I was keen to knuckle down with a good block of hard training. Luckily I was able to combine both my training and supporting requirements (!) by virtue of a training trip to C’an Picafort on the Mallorcan north coast. I […]
3rd place – 4:06:38 My racing season got properly started with my first triathlon of the year – the Triatlon de Elche at the end of April. I raced here last year and really enjoyed the event, so was pleased to be returning this year. Unfortunately Ali got a pesky sickness bug the night before […]
