Participating in the Press Conference on Friday avo - evidently deep in listening mode!!
Phew .. after a whirlwind last few days in the Shire I have arrived in Stellenbosch; my winter home from home.
It was hard leaving home this time, much harder than it has been on previous trips away and sitting in Heathrow Terminal 5 on Xmas Eve alone is not something I would stick on a [...]
I can get 70 miles to the gallon on this hog! - I couldn’t resist a link to some memerable ‘Dumb and Dumber’ quotes …. its’ potentially my most favourite film (i know, but it is) and therefore I can’t help but laugh (generally out loud) to myself each time I head off down the driveway [...]
A slightly shorter than initially planned trip - 9 days as opposed to 12, but it’s still been a great little block of training in the sun down here in Spain. It’s been 2 full years since I trained here, and back then it was pretty much the only place I coulf get to for [...]
Another day, another ride. It’s been good so far; 5 days in and the riding total hovers at the 500k mark. The legs are feeling it however. - Must become more familiar with riding hard between now and Clearwater!!
It’s been a flying 5 days or so - it seems like yesterday I was racing in [...]
For lack of anything better to add, here is a picture of the coast as I rode today. I sneakily avoided the Spanish downpour that pelted down from 12-2pm (siesta time anyway) and got out once the roads dried …. it doesn’t work like that in Scotland, I’ll tell you that for free!
I would prefer not to write, so I will keep it short and to the point. I didn’t finish yesterday in Prague and I am none to happy about it. Racing for GBR is somthing I don’t take lightly and I hoped to be in contention for a top 5 or better whilst doing so. [...]
Contact has been sparse I admit, but the internet has been hard to come by I promise. I can confirm that I am still alive and kicking in St Moritz and have been doing my best to get into some decent shape. - I think I have managed over the past month and so I [...]
We went mountain biking at the w/e at the excellent Glentress down past Peebles. We have had Mari staying this week - returning the favour in some small way for all the weeks I have stayed with her and her family in Stellenbosch, and we saw this cool VW camper. - There is a Life [...]
I’m back in Stirling, or as we have affectionately named it since the Lord Of The Rings trilogy - The Shire - and I’m back into my staple bread and butter sessions. I’m feeling much much more settled already due to that. As much as it is great being in places like California and Florida, [...]
The last few days have been pretty busy and hectic, what with getting back from Florida later on Tuesday night than i had hoped (i was delay-ed in Dallas…) which threw me all off kilter in my schedule. Not that i had a terribly lock tight schedule, but I did have to be at LAX [...]
I arrived in Florida later on last night, happy to step off the plane to yet another warm climate. Spoilt … that’s what I have become!
I got up this morning for swimming to a view out of the window which showed white white white; the snow was here once again. I didn’t get out on the mtb, and neither did Blair (today), but he did the other week when the snow was last on the ground. - A bit of a difference to the [...]
The South African experience is drawing to a close. This time next week it will be ‘this way to depatures’.
My downtime has all but reached its endpoint; I have been home in Stirling for nearly 2 weeks and in 2 more days I will boarding a BA flight to Cape Town, so that I can spend the next 3 months in Stellenbosch… I’m a lucky person.
I’m all packed and I’m yet again on the move; to St Petersburg, Florida. There is just one week left till the Foster Grant Ironman World Championship 70.3 in Clearwater, and I am heading over to the same great homestay I enjoyed last time with Carolyn, and also Julie Dibens. We were there in Arpil [...]
Sorry it’s been a few days, but I am now more or less settled back into life as a San Diegan for the third time this year, albiet just for another couple weeks. I go in late on Monday and have been easing into the training which is very much needed in order to go and [...]
….for a chuckle.
I’m sitting in Houston Intercontinental Airport. Tired, bored, and fed up with the prospect of yet another flight onwards to San Diego. It’s been a long 20hours or so since I got out of bed this morning (or yesterday?) - Stirling. Edinburgh Airport. New York Newark Airport - where the Customs and Border [...]
