The past few days

I’ve been racking up the miles; the Felt(s) and I have become much better friends over the past 10 days, which is no bad thing. The running still isn’t happening – but I am aiming for shuffling along once more by this w/e, providing the physio gives me the go ahead.
4 hours 55 mins. 123.4Km. A ride to Palomar mountain (elevation 6140ft!!) and back. 18k climb, 1hour 6 mins ascent, side by side with Joe Gambles the whole way. Lesley Paterson wasn’t too far behind either!
My first full week of training here in California is done. It’s been a busy week. But I think I have got back on track in terms of swim, bike and crucially, run. I have been struggling with a niggly pain in my lower leg for a few weeks now – ‘I am running, I’m not [...]
I had my first longer ride for quite some time today; 4+ hours…… it has been a good month or more since I crept into those digits. South Africa seems many moons ago! Faced with a choice of bike now (it’s a tough life) I opted for my AR1 (again!) as I am really loving [...]

I have been making very good use of my compression socks during the past 10 days….. which is exactly how long I have had some out here in Stellenbosch, since I forgot to bring my own when I flew initially.
The last week, which spanned last year and this new one, has been solid. It had to be, given the week off I had whilst spending Christmas away plus the extra enforced lay off due to mangled big toes…..
Caught in the act ….. that there on my lap is a pie. A chicken pie. I think if nothing else, South Africa has an affinity with Scotland in its love for the Pie. The things is I would never usually eat a pie at home. Funny really that when I ride the 4 Passes route – all 128 [...]
