2010 Ironman UK: 3 from 3!

Thursday, August 5th, 2010

Ironman was something I have always been in awe of since I started to race triathlon – the distances alone are pretty crazy when you sit down and actually think about them! – but from the start of the year Ironman UK has been a firm target for me and that ensured I was always looking forward [...]

3rd UK Ironman 70.3 Title!

Monday, June 21st, 2010

I am a happy and content camper indeed this evening …. to try and win at Wimbleball Lake for a 3rd time yesterday has been a goal of mine all year – and so it feels extremely satisfying to have managed to do just that.

TriGrandPrix – Kent

Wednesday, June 2nd, 2010

On Sunday I took on a world class field at Leybourne Lakes, Kent at the TriGrandPrix and crossed the line as the winner, the reality of which is still sinking in if I am honest. – It was the goal, but to actually tick the box is always tricky. I believe as I spoke to Jose – who [...]

St Croix Ironman 70.3

Monday, May 3rd, 2010

5th place, 4.13.07
I can safely say that was the hardest racing experience I have had for some considerable time, if not ever! What a course – choppy (but beautiful) sea swim, hilly and technical bike capped off with a brutally hot and energy sapping run route. I believe I told myself time after time during [...]

Abu Dhabi Triathlon video

Thursday, March 18th, 2010

Another funky little Abu Dhabi race video compilation from Wattie who was out there helping us Trek/K Swiss athletes out – many thanks buddy, especially for changing my flat in T1 40 minutes prior to the gun firing. I wasn’t flapping at all. Promise!?!

Ironman 70.3 South Africa 2010

Tuesday, January 19th, 2010

Woohoo! I won! It was 2 years and 3 attempts coming, but I secured a victory in East London on Sunday finally – and it felt good for sure. It’s not easy to win a race these days, so I am more than happy with how I coped on race day to do just that.

Breaking [...]

Clearwater 2009

Wednesday, November 18th, 2009

I’m home, I’m unpacked (well, the bike can well and truly stay where it is for a little longer, let’s not get carried away) and feeling a lot closer to human after the travel. Therefore I have had some time to reflect properly and objectively about Clearwater at the weekend. I still stand by my initial [...]

Scottish Champs, Gullane

Saturday, August 29th, 2009

Windy? Yup. Hard work? For sure. Raining?? – Incredibly, no!!
The Scottish Olympic distance Champs in Gullane kicked off this morning and I headed along hoping for a start (I was on the waiting list). I like to race at home, and I haven’t done it for ages. Especially not in Gullane. In fact, I last raced [...]

Euro Long Course – DNF

Sunday, August 9th, 2009

I would prefer not to write, so I will keep it short and to the point. I didn’t finish yesterday in Prague and I am none to happy about it. Racing for GBR is somthing I don’t take lightly and I hoped to be in contention for a top 5 or better whilst doing so. [...]

SABIC Long Distance – Stein, The Netherlands

Monday, June 22nd, 2009

Despite racing over the 70.3 distance last weekend I had a plan b for this weekend if the legs felt willing … thankfully by Saturday morning they had started to come around and by Sunday morning they felt like my own once again. Just.

Stirling Triathlon 2009

Sunday, June 7th, 2009

I had a fun day today - firstly racing, and then mostly helping out – at the Stirling Triathlon which included the Scottish Schools Championships.

I like racing at home when I can, and the Stirling Triathlon Club have been very supportive of me so far, making it all the more worthwhile being able to give a little something back [...]

TriAthy Olympic 2009

Sunday, May 31st, 2009

It’s taken a while, but I was able to get back to winning ways and defend my 2008 title yesterday at the TriAthy Triathlon in Athy, Ireland. Despite there being plenty to improve upon, the result marks a positve step in the right direction for me as the season rolls on in earnest.

Fraser Cartmell won Tri Athy 2009

Sunday, May 31st, 2009

Fraser won Tri Athy 2009.

“TriAthy was a success
I defended my title from last year.
Gutted for @gavontwitt who punctured
at 5k into the bike.
Lovely weather”
More info will follow…

Florida Ironman 70.3, Disney World

Monday, May 18th, 2009

I didn’t finish today and I am not really in the mood to write an extensive report on the subject to tell the truth. It is just really frustrating right now.
I was looking forward to moving another step towards full fitness, and had hoped to get myself a top 10 or better, which would’ve been a [...]

Wildflower triathlon festival 2009

Tuesday, May 5th, 2009

After what feels like an awfully long time, I am now back in Escondido from the ‘Wildflower trip’. It was a long one I’ll tell you that! But a load of fun nontheless, and most importantly I finished. Without leg pain. About bloomin’ time….

St Anthony’s Triathlon 2009

Sunday, April 26th, 2009

Just a quick race update from this morning here in St Petersburg – 14th place, 1:53:16. My leg didn’t hurt either (well, they collectively ‘hurt’ as a pair, but my sore spot didn’t hurt!) – and that is progress in the land-of-Fraser right now, let me tell you. (And I even outsplit the fastest girl on [...]

Ironman 70.3 California 2009

Sunday, April 5th, 2009

Unfortunately I am reporting a DNF from the race today in Oceanside, however, on the plus side of things I had a great swim/bike out there which has given me a good indication of how I am travelling right now. I have had a problem in my lower leg for a month now, and although [...]

Miami International Triathlon 2009

Sunday, March 15th, 2009

Today I raced an olympic distance event in Miami. Non drafting. I finished 8th place in 1.52.16. It was a tough day at the office as they say, but a solid start to the year in the Northern Hemisphere.

Ironman 70.3 South Africa 2009

Tuesday, January 20th, 2009

So the racing has begun – 2009 is well under way and I’m delighted to have kicked it off with a 2nd place on Sunday in Buffalo City, East London. I started to get a little ahead of myself around 30k on the bike – got a tad excited shall I say, as I reckoned [...]
