Back in Boulder!

Wednesday, October 3rd, 2012

I was in Boulder during April/early May and then whilst the greater portion of the long distance triathlete population were here enjoying the wonerful Coloradian summer, I was back home in, well, sunny Scotland. And now with most folk leaving for warmer climes as winter fast approaches here in the foothills of the Rockie Mountains … […]

Ironman Arizona 2011

Tuesday, March 27th, 2012

2011 has been a very different year to that of 2010, thats certainly for sure. Similarities in my Ironman racing during both those years can start and end in the simple fact that I ‘completed’ Ironmans in both years. – In Kona last year I did nothing more than toe  tread water) the start line and cross the […]

Ironman 70.3 Steelhead

Thursday, August 18th, 2011

Steelhead was never a race that I had planned to race at before I arrived in the US – but after the Boulder 70.3 last weekend I decided to make the trip over to Michigan and do my first ‘back to back’ in some time; it could end in tears, or – I hoped – act as […]

Ironman 70.3 Boulder 2011

Tuesday, August 9th, 2011

9th Place: Swim 24:00, Bike 2:03:48, Run 1:29:59 ….total 3:59:50  Yesterday was the next installment in my ‘racing myself back to shape’ programme … let say I maybe underestimated the effects of racing at a mile high elevation after less than 3 weeks of acclimatisation, but lessons were learned and plenty positives taken. Onwards and upwards.

A visit to Trek plus a visit from SRAM

Wednesday, July 27th, 2011

Before I raced at Racine 70.3 last weekend I spent an exciting few days in Madison staying with our legendary Trek/K-Swiss team mechanic Mark Andrews and his family …. it was exciting on at least two fronts: 1. I was getting given my brand new Trek Speed Concept – here is a preview of the bike I did for SRAM […]

Spirit of Racine Roundup

Monday, July 18th, 2011

Let me tell you – this week has been a busy one; starting off with a trip to Switzerland , a couple days at home to pack (read: procrastinate) and head on over to the US for 6 weeks of training and racing based out of Boulder. En route was a visit to Trek in […]

Zurich 5150, 2011

Monday, July 11th, 2011

Two weeks further down the line from the trip to liverpool and with two more weeks of Shire-training tucked away it was time to head towards departures at Edinburgh airport once more. Destination Zurich; for the next round of the Ironman 5150 series of olympic distance racing. I had Ritchie Nicholls as a travel buddy, starting only his […]

Nautica Malibu Triathlon

Wednesday, September 15th, 2010

After what is without question the longest gap in my blogging ‘career’ I am now back ‘in the game’ I think; both with motivation to write and interesting material to actually write about! Last Thursday I arrived in Los Angeles and on SaturdayI raced at the Nautica Malibu Triathlon and placed 3rd.  It was an olympic distance […]

LA + back (in a weekend!)

Thursday, May 20th, 2010

Well, this is certainly going to be a busy few days for me ahead! Tomorrow morning I am on the red eye out of Edinburgh airport (ash clouds dependant) to LA via Paris. It’s exciting – I am going over to LA to meet up with the Trek/K Swiss team for the official launch of […]

St Croix Ironman 70.3

Monday, May 3rd, 2010

5th place, 4.13.07 I can safely say that was the hardest racing experience I have had for some considerable time, if not ever! What a course – choppy (but beautiful) sea swim, hilly and technical bike capped off with a brutally hot and energy sapping run route. I believe I told myself time after time […]

Off again

Thursday, April 29th, 2010

After only a couple of days here in St Petersburg and I am up and ready to leave for St Croix. It’s not even 5am yet but i wasn’t even remotely velcro’d to the bed this morning; guess I must still be jet lagged. And the good news is that my website was down yesterday […]

All go …

Sunday, April 25th, 2010

So I am virtually packed up ready to go tomorrow morning – it has been a wee while since I embarked upon a trip, so I am looking forward to arriving in Tampa tomorrow evening to get ready for St Croix next Sunday. – Fairly lengthy travel, but thats ok – better than no travel at all, […]

“Iceland is my least favourite european nation – first the banking crisis and now this bonfire . .  and that shop named after them is for neds  . . . . you can quote me on all that!”  Gavin says it all really.

A final few Abu Dhabi pictures

Monday, March 22nd, 2010

A week has gone by since we got home from the middle east, (time flies) and I am well on my way to being recovered and ready to tackle the next phase of training. However, there are a few more pics here that I have to remind myself of the antics last w/e in the desert heat. […]

Abu Dhabi International 2010

Tuesday, March 16th, 2010

It’s been a while since I have been able to log a race report, so i’ll throw a quick one together here. I’m back in Stirling, it’s not raining, Spring is coming and I have (more than) survived my first long race of this year. It’s all good really. Crossing the line to congratulations from 2nd place […]

Pre Abu Dhabi!

Friday, March 12th, 2010

It’s nearly race day … and boy has it been a few days of hanging around an waiting for it to arrive. I’m not much of a fan of emersing yourself amongst you’re rivals and competitors for days on end before an event, but there wasn’t much choice for this race. It was a  long […]

Abu Dhabi bound

Monday, March 8th, 2010

Well, it may not be the most appropriate of pictures to attach to this post, but I like what Nikola is doing here (my nutrition has never exactly been an ideal model to follow!) and you never know, if things go well after the race i may be allowed a mojito of two, who know’s?! […]

Lesley Paterson

Saturday, February 13th, 2010

Lesley has had a fantastic resurgence into the sport … she’s been around for donkeys years however, and it’s fantastic to see her – a Scot no less! –  tearing it up on the world scence once again! www.lesleydoestri.org – check it out!

Ironman 70.3 South Africa 2010

Tuesday, January 19th, 2010

Woohoo! I won! It was 2 years and 3 attempts coming, but I secured a victory in East London on Sunday finally – and it felt good for sure. It’s not easy to win a race these days, so I am more than happy with how I coped on race day to do just that. […]
