Transitioning times

Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

We went mountain biking at the w/e at the excellent Glentress down past Peebles. We have had Mari staying this week - returning the favour in some small way for all the weeks I have stayed with her and her family in Stellenbosch, and we saw this cool VW camper. - There is a Life [...]

my two pence worth….

Saturday, June 27th, 2009

So there has been 3 very interesting races so far in the newly formed ITU World Championships Series. The most recent just having been in Washington D.C. I pretty much eat, sleep and breathe triathlon and therefore would happily describe myself as a tri-geek. Or perhaps as a ’student’ of the sport? Either way I [...]

SABIC Long Distance - Stein, The Netherlands

Monday, June 22nd, 2009

Despite racing over the 70.3 distance last weekend I had a plan b for this weekend if the legs felt willing … thankfully by Saturday morning they had started to come around and by Sunday morning they felt like my own once again. Just.

Holland Visit

Friday, June 19th, 2009

Gav and Will are in D.C, Dan is in Arkansas (i think?) and Conrad is in hospital in Richmond.
Blair is back up North (and on the longest w/e in Scotland that means very little darkness which is really cool) in Inverness ready to hit the Highland Cross tomorrow morning. He’s been training regular enough and is [...]

The team rolls on …..

UK Ironman 70.3 2009

Tuesday, June 16th, 2009

Thanks to everyone who has been in touch since Sunday, it’s been fantastic support!! With a couple days of reflection I can appreciate that getting through to the finish line on Sunday was a fair old achievement, as the body wasn’t playing very fair with me once the running shoes were added.  It’s a funny old game [...]

3rd @ UK 70.3

Monday, June 15th, 2009

3rd place wasn’t what I went to Wimbleball Lake for, but given it was - on reflection - probably the toughest race I’ve finished so far in my career, I’m content with a podium; my 6th on the 70.3 circuit.
More to follow when i wake up ‘tomorrow’ - its nearly 4am right now after driving back up North, [...]

Back page of The Herald by Doug Gillon

Wednesday, June 10th, 2009

The football season has finished and Wimbledon or the Ashes haven’t yet begun, so what is a sportsdesk to do?
Why, donate a whole page to a minority sport!
I was back page of The Herald newspaper by Doug Gillon today, which is a great bit of publicity for me, and triathlon as a whole here in [...]

UK Ironman 70.3, Wimbleball Lake

Wednesday, June 10th, 2009

I’m gearing up for my major goal race
of the first half of the racing season this w/e.
It’s been an up and down first few months of 2009 racing for me, but I am finally feeling confident about my prospects of being able to race to my potential on Sunday morning. I’m very motivated and generally [...]

Stirling Triathlon 2009

Sunday, June 7th, 2009

I had a fun day today - firstly racing, and then mostly helping out - at the Stirling Triathlon which included the Scottish Schools Championships.

I like racing at home when I can, and the Stirling Triathlon Club have been very supportive of me so far, making it all the more worthwhile being able to give a little something back [...]

Motivational? Nikola reckons so

Friday, June 5th, 2009

I sometimes worry that Nikola has a little too much time on his hands, and one of his latest posts over on the team site seems to feed fuel to that particular fire! Have a look at triathlonteam.org for the others!

It’s a deep burn

Perhaps rather unimaginatively I have attempted to cobble together two seperate (and quite frankly unrelated) topics in order to avoid having a post title along the lines of ‘Photo’s for Norwell - Part II’….

Photo’s for Norwell

Wednesday, June 3rd, 2009

After the early morning swim here in Stirling ( 21*100s on the 1.15/1.20 cycle broken) I wolfed the cereal, had a run up and around the uni, and somehow fitted in a visit to physiofocus before heading up the road to Aberdeen. The weather here at the moment really is superb, and I apologise (only a [...]

Dunnung Glen and Gleneagles loop. - 83k, 2hrs 45mins.
It happens a lot less often than I would like, but every now and then I find myself saying “who needs warm weather training in far flung places all over the place when it can be like this in Stirling?”. Today (and the past few days) has been awesome…. I even got [...]
