TriAthy Olympic 2009

Sunday, May 31st, 2009

It’s taken a while, but I was able to get back to winning ways and defend my 2008 title yesterday at the TriAthy Triathlon in Athy, Ireland. Despite there being plenty to improve upon, the result marks a positve step in the right direction for me as the season rolls on in earnest.

Never too old

Thursday, May 28th, 2009

Blair turned 24 yesterday; and he had to light his own candles. You’re never too old for cake though – especially chocolate cake! However he wasn’t so impressed with the candles which wouldn’t go out though – like fireworks so they were….

I’m struggling slightly….

….to think of anything meaningful to blog about. However I will push on regardless and see where it goes.

Bread and Butter

Friday, May 22nd, 2009

I’m back in Stirling, or as we have affectionately named it since the Lord Of The Rings trilogy – The Shire – and I’m back into my staple bread and butter sessions. I’m feeling much much more settled already due to that. As much as it is great being in places like California and Florida, [...]

Florida Ironman 70.3, Disney World

Monday, May 18th, 2009

I didn’t finish today and I am not really in the mood to write an extensive report on the subject to tell the truth. It is just really frustrating right now.
I was looking forward to moving another step towards full fitness, and had hoped to get myself a top 10 or better, which would’ve been a [...]

Notes from St Petersburg

Thursday, May 14th, 2009

To say the past week has been stressful and hectic, would be a bit of an understatement, and so updating my website took a back seat. I’ve got some stuff to write about now mind you.

My stolen Felt AR1

Sunday, May 10th, 2009

Between loading the bike onto the car this morning at 5.30 for an early morning swim/bike session and realising at 5.45 on the Interstate Highway that it was no longer on the bike rack…
I had my road bike stolen.
I know that nobody died and that is only equipment, BUT I am still very much gutted [...]

Triathlete’s World Front cover

Thursday, May 7th, 2009

Gavin just got back from the shops at home in Stirling …..
and he emailed me this picture!
Very cool – my second magazine front cover, after a mountain biking shot taken at Xterra UK (which became a duathlon!) back in September 2006. This shot was taken in South Africa whilst I was training in Stellenbosch.

I rode along this [...]

triathlonteam.org

Thursday, May 7th, 2009

Nikola has put together a great new website (a few months in the process) linking all of our sites that he designs and manages – including South African Xterra machines Conrad and Dan, Irish literature genius Gavin, continental euro’s Dejan, Aleksandar, Igor and of course – mine. Check it out at triathlonteam.org
The essential online triathlon resource that [...]

Wildflower triathlon festival 2009

Tuesday, May 5th, 2009

After what feels like an awfully long time, I am now back in Escondido from the ‘Wildflower trip’. It was a long one I’ll tell you that! But a load of fun nontheless, and most importantly I finished. Without leg pain. About bloomin’ time….
