Xterra Maui World Champs 2008 recap

Wednesday, October 29th, 2008

I watched online via the xterra.tv link, and that was pretty cool - the swim and finsh at least….the in-between-bits were a bit too much fuzzy-helicoptor-heights and catch-a-glimpse-if-you-can but hey, better than nothing.

Today I mostly…… visited Encinitas

Wednesday, October 29th, 2008

Encinitas is down by the beach, about 15 miles away from Escondido - where i stay whilst here in CA. It’s a pretty little town, quaint almost, and for me it typifies everything that California seemed to mean as depicted by the vision (tv) whilst growing up. And what better a depiction of Californian life [...]

Xterra World Championships, Maui 2008

Sunday, October 26th, 2008

Tomorrow is the Xterra World Championship in Maui, Hawaii. My good friends Dan Hugo and Julie Dibens are racing. Julie is defending her title won there last year, and Dan in new territory at the World stage, but after his 2nd place in the overall standing in the US Tour this year, has every reason [...]

I’ve been training. Honest.

Saturday, October 25th, 2008

I’ve not written in a while, largely due to my (only 5 months old!) laptop deciding it didn’t want to switch on, but also because I’ve been trying to cram. A bit like when you have an exam coming up and you haven’t done the revision (it always seemed to be vision for me, not [...]

Sorry it’s been a few days, but I am now more or less settled back into life as a San Diegan for the third time this year, albiet just for another couple weeks. I go in late on Monday and have been easing into the training which is very much needed in order to go and [...]

Can always count on Gav…..

Tuesday, October 14th, 2008

….for a chuckle.
I’m sitting in Houston Intercontinental Airport. Tired, bored, and fed up with the prospect of yet another flight onwards to San Diego. It’s been a long 20hours or so since I got out of bed this morning (or yesterday?) - Stirling. Edinburgh Airport. New York Newark Airport - where the Customs and Border [...]

Ironman Kona 2008 rundown

Sunday, October 12th, 2008

This is going to be quick - I’ve got to get to bed for my flight to San Diego tomorrow morning . . . but
What about CHRISSIE Wellington?! Superb, although there was nothing unexpected about the domination she showed out there on the lava fields. Truly inspirational stuff I felt.

Today us at TotalRacingInt.com had ourselves a few photies on the shore of loch Venachar, not so far away from Stirling. It was sunny, for the most part, but oh so brrrr. Autumn is here for sure.
